From here you can go to the famous tourist places Auli, Joshimath, Chopta, Tungnath, Gopinath, Vairashkund, Kartik Swami at a distance of just one to one and a half hours and you can come back to your camp.
Joshimath is of immensely spiritual and religious importance to the Hindus and it is in Chamoli. Adi Shankaracharya established one of the four peeths here in Joshimath. The idol of Lord Badrinath is brought to Narsingh Temple in Joshimath during the winters. The temple was erected somewhere around 9th and 11th century by the affluent Katyuri kings. The inscriptions present on the divine trident placed in the temple dates back to the 12th century. After Panch Kedar shrines, this is the most famous and revered Shiva temple in Uttarakhand.
Valley of Flowers is the most famous tourist places in Chamoli. During the period between June to September, the valley is carpeted in a variety of colorful flowers, which you can see only in the upper reaches of the Himalayas. Rare flowers like Brahmakamal, which flowers only for one night in the entire year can be seen in the Valley of Flowers. Valley of Flowers is a World Heritage Site listed by UNESCO. According to legends, Hanuman brought back the Sanjeevani booty from the Valley of Flowers.
Kartik Swami Temple, located in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, is a sacred place for Hindus, dedicated to Kartikeya, the eldest son of Lord Shiva. The temple is situated amidst the snowy peaks of the Garhwal Himalayas at an altitude of 3050 meters above sea level. It is believed to be an ancient temple, whose history is 200 years old. This temple is the only temple in Uttarakhand, which is dedicated to Lord Kartik. The ancient Kartik Swami Temple of Lord Kartikeya is a divine place as well as a very beautiful tourist place.
vairas-kund is said to be the place where Ravana worshiped Lord Shiva day in and day out to please Lord shiva . Ravana’s fingerprints are also present and the evidence of mythological items was also found .
